MonteQ Featured in SEAB: AXIFORM™ and the Possibilities of Modular Design
Media Feature · SEAB · September–October 2026
MonteQ’s AXIFORM™ modular aluminium system is featured in the September–October 2026 issue of SEAB, as part of its event coverage, “Archifest 2026—Convergence.”
The feature introduces the thinking behind AXIFORM™ and includes insights from MonteQ co-founders Kelvin Kwek and Quin Zhang on adaptable structures, emerging applications and the value of designing for reuse.
One System, Multiple Applications
Presented at Singapore Archifest 2026, AXIFORM™ brings aluminium profiles and purpose-designed joints together into a modular structural system.
Its components can be configured for furniture, displays and exhibition structures, with different panels, surfaces and finishes creating distinct appearances around the same framework.
At Archifest, visitors could experience the assembly process firsthand by joining components together with a rubber mallet. The AXIFORM™ booth structure and furniture demonstrated how the system could be used across different applications without screws.
From Singapore to Kuala Lumpur
One of the stories highlighted in the interview is the journey of MonteQ’s AXIFORM™ exhibition booth and furniture between two events.
Following Archifest in Singapore, the team dismantled the components, transported them to Kuala Lumpur and reassembled them at ARCHIDEX 2026 for AXIFORM™’s Malaysian launch.
This demonstrated the system’s potential beyond its first installation: the same components could be moved and used again in another setting.
For MonteQ, this is a practical expression of the idea behind AXIFORM™:
Build Once. Adapt Endlessly.
Insights from MonteQ’s Co-Founders
In the interview, Kelvin Kwek discusses how architects, designers and other visitors began imagining applications beyond those presented at the exhibition. He also shares how the introduction generated enquiries and project opportunities involving exhibition booths, roadshows and furniture.
Quin Zhang outlines MonteQ’s interest in developing further applications with architects, designers and industry partners, particularly for exhibitions and temporary spaces where dismantling and reconfiguration can support repeated use.
Designing for Reconfiguration and Reuse
The feature explores MonteQ’s view that sustainability involves considering how a system can remain useful as requirements change.
Alongside aluminium’s durability and recyclability, AXIFORM™ places emphasis on disassembly, reconfiguration and reuse. Its modular approach creates opportunities to retain components and adapt them for subsequent applications.
